Who's at the helm?
Not everyone knows Cabo like he does
More than 40 years at the helm, thousands of miles sailed, and a career forged on the sea and in the most important sport fishing tournaments. Captain Ernie Cosio is a well-known legend in Cabo San Lucas; he is part of a family tradition spanning three generations of captains, and has won the most important sport fishing tournaments around the world. It was a part of his story that inspired the Netflix film Blue Miracle, based on the tournament and the circumstances that shaped his career as a captain.
Bisbee’s Black and Blue
In October 2014, Captain Ernie Cosío made history in Cabo San Lucas by leading the Casa Hogar team to victory in the prestigious Bisbee’s Black & Blue Marlin Tournament. Aboard the boat Mucho Bueno, the team landed a 385-pound blue marlin, a catch that earned them first place in the tournament. The feat also earned Ernie recognition as the tournament’s top captain.
Tuna Jackpot
In November 2020, Ernie once again made his mark on sport fishing in Cabo San Lucas by winning the WON Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot, one of the most prestigious tuna fishing tournaments. Ernie and his team managed to bring an impressive 210-pound yellowfin tuna to the scale, caught after an intense five-hour battle. The fish was the largest of the tournament and secured them the overall championship among 149 participating teams.
Bisbee’s East Cape
In 2012, Captain Ernie stood out at the most important fishing tournament in Baja California Sur, the Bisbee’s East Cape Offshore. At the helm of the boat Ez-Duz-It, he and his team secured a remarkable victory in the dorado category by landing a 57.5-pound fish. The catch earned them the victory in the dorado category, marking one of the most significant achievements of his competitive career during that tournament.
